Strategic Planning

NexLevel develops strategic IT plans that support and enhance an organization's business operations. NexLevel helps organizations develop and implement Information Technology Plans (ITP) that identify initiatives that promote and support strategic business goals, as well as any new business imperatives.

NexLevel brings specific external knowledge pertaining to the use of IT within state and local governments. Our knowledge and expertise has been derived not only from our experience in developing plans, but also in the public sector IT procurement, integration/implementation, and operations experience of our consultants.

NexLevel incorporates client staff input along with industry best practices and NexLevel past experience to develop a final list of initiatives that form the basis for the ITP.

For an ITP to be effective, it must be developed using input from each affected department. Inclusion of staff contributed suggestions coupled with each department's input helps ensure an understanding and ownership of the ITP. For this reason, NexLevel's approach puts an emphasis on a high level of involvement and interaction with the users of technology and those setting the strategic business direction for a department.

NexLevel stresses the importance of letting business issues drive the ITP. As we interview department staff, we discuss the business issues facing each department as opposed to just focusing on the technology. This information allows for business requirements to drive the ITP overall strategy, as well as to justify each proposed IT initiative included in the ITP in business terms.

As we have completed numerous ITPs for government entities, we are familiar with the problems and issues that can arise in developing such plans. NexLevel is skilled in managing multiple, and often conflicting, visions, missions, needs, and priorities; obtaining IT staff and user buy-in; building organization and department wide understanding and consensus; and dealing with the budget implications associated with the recommendations and initiatives.
