Feasibility Studies

NexLevel performs feasibility studies for organizations to determine if a proposed project is feasible and operationally compatible with their existing environment. Technical feasibility analysis identifies whether the project is based on appropriate technology for the business problem, while financial feasibility analysis helps an organization understand the total cost of the project, and where the money will come from to pay for the project. Operational compatibility analysis includes evaluation of conformance with and/or impact to established technical architectures, data center operations, and network services.

A feasibility study is often prompted by an information management or business requirement or opportunity triggered by factors such as new legislation, changes to regulations, or growth of a program beyond the support capability of existing systems.

The Feasibility Study Report (FSR) will identify the scope or expected size and complexity of the IT project and provide a summary of the problem, alternative solutions, and recommended course of action. The FSR scope identifies the primary objectives of the project, the business processes included, and the anticipated organizational impacts.

NexLevel bases the criteria by which the alternatives are evaluated on the business requirements of the organization, making a distinction between mandatory and desirable characteristics.

Alternative analysis addresses the resources required, associated risk, system architecture, technology used, and the manual process flow for each alternative. The benefits in terms of technical, operational, and economic feasibility are documented including the option of continuing with the status quo.

After performing a comprehensive comparison of alternatives, NexLevel provides a narrative that supports the recommended course of action. The recommended solution is the one that offers the most advantageous approach for implementing the required functional capabilities based on the organization's business and technical requirements.
